Mudboss Fan Mount Assembly

Heat is the destroyer for any motor type. Keeping brushed motors (as specified for Mudboss) cool is critical due to the wasted energy (as heat) caused by the arcing of brushes on the commutator. In the Southwest area, rules for Mudboss have been updated to allow cooling systems for the motors (check your track rules). NOTE: System designed for prepared track surfaces and pushes a LOT of air through the motor. Use caution on surfaces with debris.

I have seen a makeshift mount for a fan on some cars directing the air onto the top of the motor. This has some effect, but you are actually blowing air INTO the air exit, diminishing the cooling effect that could be useful. As with our other cooling products, Ron Free has engineered a properly sized velocity stack to accelerate maximum airflow with the TPP Mudboss cooling system through the motor. Can be used with either 30mm or 40mm fans (depending on the model chosen; engineered for use with TPP Aluminum fans, but any appropriately sized fan will work). The fan mount comes with the mount system and all hardware (stainless button hex screws) to install it using TPP fans. The existing screws in the transmission which mount the unit are shorter than optimum for attachment. If you substitute different screws (other than what is included) make sure the mount to transmission screws are 28mm long to prevent going through case on other side. NOTE: When installing mount to transmission, the left screw in the transmission is hard to install with the mount. There is a hole in the right mount arm which allows easy install with most hex drivers (straight shot to screw head)!

The 30mm model does a great job of pressurizing the air into the brush end of the motor to force more air out through the mid-span air exit. The 40mm supplies about 25% more air than the 30mm units AND flows more air around the outside of the can as well as through the can.
